According to game:
Orphans formerly in the care of Sorceress Edea. They often travel on their ship and are veiled in secrecy.

When Cid left Edea, she was alfraid of loosing her control and sent Ellone to the White SeeD ship with a bunch of other orphans. Since Ellone was older than the others, she took care of them and stayed there for 10 years.
In Disc 2 they decided to take Ellone to the safety of their ship, but Esthar soldiers came and took her away after the White SeeDs were attacked.

Like with all the others, Ellone acts very caring towards the White SeeD children. She did, after all, live with them for 10 years. But there are always the underlying emotions....
